Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Azimutree, developed by Heavy Snack / Asid30, collects, uses, stores, and handles information when you use the Azimutree application.

Azimutree is an Android application designed to assist with forest health monitoring and research location mapping using the Forest Health Monitoring (FHM) method.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Most local features of Azimutree can be used without creating or signing in to an account. Google Sign-In is optional and is required only when you want to upload and manage research data using the Cloud Storage feature.

When you sign in with Google, Azimutree obtains and stores:

  • Your Google account email address;
  • Your Google account display name; and
  • A Firebase Authentication user identifier (UID).

Azimutree does not obtain or store your Google account password. Azimutree also does not obtain or store your Google profile photo.

Location Information

Azimutree may request permission to access your device's precise location. Location access is used to provide mapping and field survey features, such as showing your current position and helping you navigate toward recorded research locations.

Your live device location used during a field survey is processed on your device and is not stored in Azimutree's cloud database.

Research data may separately contain geographic coordinates for research objects such as reference points, plots, and trees. These coordinates are part of the research dataset and may be stored locally or uploaded to Cloud Storage when you explicitly choose to upload the research data.

You can control Azimutree's access to your device location through your Android device settings.

Research Data

Azimutree allows you to create and manage forest research data. Depending on the information you enter, research data may include:

  • Research location or folder names;
  • Research dates and metadata;
  • Reference point data;
  • Cluster data;
  • Plot data;
  • Tree data;
  • Latitude and longitude coordinates;
  • Azimuth and distance measurements;
  • Elevation information;
  • Notes or descriptions;
  • External image links; and
  • The display name of the owner of an uploaded research folder.

Research data created locally is stored on your device. Azimutree does not automatically upload your local research database to the cloud.

Research data is uploaded to Cloud Storage only when you choose to use the upload feature.

Images and External Links

Azimutree may allow you to associate an external image link with research data. Azimutree stores the link only and does not upload or store the original image file.

Images hosted through Google Drive or another external service remain subject to the privacy practices and terms of that external service.

2. How We Use Information

Information collected by Azimutree is used to:

  • Provide and operate application features;
  • Authenticate users who choose to use Cloud Storage;
  • Associate uploaded research data with its owner;
  • Allow users to upload, manage, download, and delete research data;
  • Display research locations on maps;
  • Provide field survey and navigation functionality; and
  • Maintain public and private research datasets according to the user's selected visibility.

Azimutree does not use personal information for advertising or marketing. Azimutree currently does not operate its own analytics or crash-reporting system.

3. Public and Private Research Data

When uploading research data to Cloud Storage, you can choose whether the research folder is public or private.

Private research data is intended to be managed by its owner and is not made available through Azimutree's public research data listing.

Public research data can be discovered and downloaded by other Azimutree users without requiring them to sign in.

When you choose to make research data public, information contained in that dataset may become visible to other users. This may include the research folder name, research metadata, the owner's display name, clusters, reference points, plots, trees, coordinates, measurements, notes, and external image links included in the published dataset.

Please avoid including sensitive personal information in research fields, notes, folder names, or external image links that you choose to publish.

4. Third-Party Services

Azimutree uses third-party services to provide certain application functionality.

Google Firebase

Azimutree uses Google Firebase services, including Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore. Firebase Authentication is used for Google account authentication, while Cloud Firestore is used to provide Azimutree's Cloud Storage functionality.

Information processed by these services may be subject to Google's and Firebase's applicable privacy policies and data processing practices.

Google Sign-In

Google Sign-In allows users to authenticate with Azimutree using a Google account. Azimutree receives only the account information required by the application as described in this Privacy Policy.

Mapbox

Azimutree uses Mapbox to provide digital map functionality. Mapbox may process certain device, usage, and location-related information as part of providing its mapping services, subject to Mapbox's own privacy practices.

The handling of information by third-party services is also governed by the terms and privacy policies of those providers.

5. Data Sharing

Azimutree does not sell users' personal information.

Information may be processed by service providers when necessary to operate features such as authentication, cloud storage, and digital maps.

Research information is also made available to other users when you explicitly choose to publish a research folder as public.

We may disclose information when required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or a valid request from a competent authority.

6. Local Data and Excel Files

Azimutree supports local management of research data and Excel import and export functionality.

Excel files imported into or exported from Azimutree are processed locally on your device. Azimutree does not automatically upload these Excel files to Cloud Storage.

Deleting your Azimutree cloud account does not automatically delete research data or exported files stored locally on your device.

7. Data Retention

Cloud account information and uploaded research data are retained while they are needed to provide Azimutree's Cloud Storage functionality or until you delete the relevant data or your Azimutree account.

When account deletion is successfully completed through the application, Azimutree deletes the associated account and cloud data as part of the deletion process.

If a deletion process is interrupted by a connection failure or another technical problem, the deletion may not complete. You may sign in again and repeat the deletion process.

Copies of public research data that were previously downloaded and stored locally by another user cannot be remotely deleted by Azimutree.

8. Account and Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your Azimutree account and its associated cloud data from within the application.

In the application, open Kelola Data, select Penyimpanan Awan, open your profile, select Edit Profil, and use the Hapus Akun option.

Account deletion removes the Azimutree Firebase Authentication account, profile information, and cloud research data associated with that account. It does not delete your Google account or research data stored locally on your device.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information handled through Azimutree. Data transmitted between Azimutree and supported cloud services is transmitted using secure network connections provided by those services.

However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

10. Children's Privacy

Azimutree is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

If we become aware that personal information from a child under 16 has been collected through Azimutree, we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

11. External Services and Links

Research data may contain links to content hosted by third-party services, such as external image hosting services. Azimutree does not control the content, availability, security, or privacy practices of those external services.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Azimutree's features, data practices, or third-party services change.

When this Privacy Policy is updated, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will also be updated.
